Overview
The 1997 SC coupe comes in two models - the SC1 coupe and SC2 coupe. The coupes are being manufactured in Spring Hill, Tennessee. This is the first year both coupes share the same exterior that includes an increased length of 6.8 inches and a new wheelbase (same as the sedans and wagons) of 102.4 inches an increase of 3.2 inches. Also with a new interior that adds increased headroom of one inch and increased rear legroom of 4.5 inches. The coupes are marketed toward the small, affordable, sporty subcompact segment with a 1500 mile or 30 day money back guarantee. The SC1 coupe was the 1996 BOVY award winner for the Subcompact/Minicompact category for under $12,500 and the awards for 1995- 96 went to the SC2 coupe for over $12,500.
