Overview

For 2006, the SLK is carried over from last year and is available in three trims: SLK280, 350, and AMG 55. The Base Roadster features a standard 228-hp engine and short-throw six-speed manual transmission (a seven-speed automatic is optional). All SLK models come with an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), adaptive dual front airbags, integrated fine mesh wind deflector, multi-function steering wheel, premium leather interior, and a "Tunnel Mode" function which offers one-touch control over the windows and interior air intake by pressing and holding the air-recirculation button. The top-of-the-line model comes with a standard 355-hp V8 engine, styling enhancements, and features such as 18-inch wheels, a Formula One air dam, and unique AMG trim.
