Overview
For 2002, Mercedes' flagship roadster, the SL, enters its thirteenth and final year of production under its current guise. The SL is again available in two models, SL 500 and SL 600. A 4.9L 302-hp V8 powers the SL 500, while the SL 600 receives a 389-hp V12. Both models are equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission. The SL's standard equipment list includes luxury items such as Nappa leather upholstery, burl walnut trim, a Bose audio system, and a Tele Aid global positioning system. Both models feature an electric soft-top and a removable hardtop, with a glass-topped panorama roof available at extra cost. The new Silver Arrow Edition has been introduced this year, featuring upgraded exterior trim and a variety of optional components.
