The 1998 SL-Class is offered as two models, the V-8 powered SL500 and the V-12 powered SL600. The six-cylinder SL320 model has been discontinued. Standard features on the SL-Class include automatic climate control, keyless remote entry, power windows, seats and door locks. Burl walnut interior trim, premium Bose sound system, traction control and automatic pop-up roll bar are also standard. The standard 5-speed automatic transmission adapts to an individual+s driving style as well as to changes in road grade. In addition, the new standard Brake Assist is designed to reduce stopping distances in emergency braking situations. Brake Assist detects an emergency or panic stop and responds by applying full braking force.
