Overview

The 1998 S-Class is available in five models: the S320 standard wheelbase and long wheelbase, the S420, S500 and S600. A new convenience feature is the Flexible Service System (FSS) , which measures actual vehicle use to determine the oil change interval. All models feature a Bose premium sound system, the Homelink Universal Transmitter and 12-way power front seats with a three position memory. Standard exterior features include a power sunroof, an electrically heated rear window and a rain sensor that automatically adjusts intermittent wiper speed based on rainfall on windshield. The Parktronic electronic audio-visual parking assistance system, automatic rear-axle level control and the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) are available on all models.
