Overview

For the 2006 the Lexus IS returns as a completely redesigned model. It is now available in three models: IS 250, IS 250 AWD, and IS 350. The new IS is physically longer and wider then the previous generation IS. The result is a roomier interior cabin. The IS 250's are powered by a 204 horsepower 2.5L VVT-i V6 engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission with formula one inspired paddle shifters. The IS 350 receives a highly tuned 306 horsepower 3.5L V6 engine mated to the six-speed automatic transmission. The result is an IS 350 that is capable of an estimated zero-to-60 mph time of 5.6 seconds. The IS 350 is also equipped with a new Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) system that is designed to anticipate tire slippage before a skid, slide, or wheel spin occurs and makes corrections to increase dynamic capability.
