For 1997, the sedans are imported and manufactured from Coventry, England. The XJ6 is only available in the U.S. A new safety feature is a rear center seat three-point passenger seat belt. A new optional Convenience package comes with remote memory for power seats, tilt/telescoping steering and power mirrors. Also, in this package is electrochromic interior mirror and an integrated garage/gate door opener. The XJR sedan is available in limited production and the Convenience package is standard on the XJR. New, is the XJ6L which is an extended wheelbase upgrade from the XJ6. The XJ6L is five inches longer and adds to the rear passengers interior volume. Jaguar plans to give the sedans a facelift and a new V8 engine in 1998.
