The 1996 Thunderbird LX is available in a single model edition. For 1996 the Thunderbird sports redesigned front and rear fascia and new bodyside molding and cladding. The Thunderbird features a 100,000 mile tune-up interval, dual air bags and power steering. The standard power door locks and windows have illuminated switches. Standard engine is a 3.8L V-6, with an optional 4.6L V-8 that adds variable-assist power steering. Options include leather seats, anti-theft system, power moonroof and traction control. The Sport Option group features larger touring tires and wheels, plus sport-tuned suspension. A compact disc player, power driver seat, keyless entry system (with two remote controllers) and Traction-Lok axle are also available.
