Overview

The 2002 Optima, Kia's five-passenger flagship, is available in four models: LX, SE, LX V6 and SE V6. A149-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine is standard on the LX and SE, while a 176-hp 2.7L V-6 powers the LX V6 and SE V6. The 2.4L models have a five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. The 2.7L models utilize a four-speed Sportmatic automatic transmission, which allows clutchless manual shifting. All models include air conditioning, as well as power windows, door locks, and mirrors. New features for 2002 include auto on/off headlights and 15-inch wheels (steel on the LX, alloy on all other models). An optional anti-lock braking system is available on V6 models. Kia offers a five-year/60,000-mile warranty.
