Overview

The 2002 Protege line-up features the DX, LX and ES models all equipped with a 2.0L engine, giving the base model a re-vamp in horsepower. The 2.0L engine replaced the 1.6L engine on LX and DX models. The ES receives interior enhancements such as silver power window switch panels, silver inner-door handles, a carbon fiber center panel, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Air conditioning and keyless entry become standard on LX models. The 14.5 gallon fuel tank is now standard on all models. Fog lights are now available as a port-installed accessory for DX and LX models. In addition, a rear spoiler can now be added optionally on DX and LX models. The DX standard tires are upgraded from P185/65R14 to P195/55R15.
