Overview
The 2002 XJ Series introduces the new XJ Sport and the formerly special order Vande Plas Supercharged model returns this year as a regular production model called the Super V8. The new XJ Sport combines the standard 4.0-liter V8 engine powertrain with sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels, Pirelli P-Zero tires, sport seats and special trim. The long-wheelbase XJ8 has been discontinued, while the Vanden Plas and Super V8 retain the long-wheelbase body. For 2002, the XJR adds as standard equipment the formerly optional DVD navigation system and the sport-tuned suspension. The Navigation System is available on the Vanden Plas model. XJ8 and XJ Sport options include heated front and rear seats and an Alpine 320-Watt premium sound system.
