Overview

The 2002 Montero Sport 4WD now features full-time all-wheel drive on all models. The 3.5L V6 engine is now standard on the Montero Sport XLS. For 2002, both XLS and Limited models are available in either two-tone or monotone paint. The Limited also has a new color-keyed grille, while the LS gets new 16-inch alloy wheels. The Montero Sport LS and XLS have a new tube-type side steps, and the XLS features new platinum-finish interior trim. The new ES Appearance Package includes alloy wheels, a keyless entry system, fender flares, roof rails, and privacy glass. The XLS is equipped with a revised Touring Package that includes the Mitsubishi/Infinity Stereo system, a limited slip differential, and a power moonroof.
