Overview

For 2002, GMC's full-sized Yukon XL returns with only slight changes. The nine-passenger SUV is available as either a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, and with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive. Two trim lines are also available, SLE and SLT. A 5.3L 285 horsepower V8 engine is standard on the 1/2 ton models, while the 3/4 ton models are available with either a 315 horsepower or 340 horsepower V8. Three different automatic transmissions are available depending on the model and specified engine. A full compliment of towing equipment comes standard on all Yukon XL+s. New this year, a locking rear differential and automatic climate control are also standard. Optional upgrades include full leather seating, middle-row captain's chairs, and a power sunroof.
