Overview
For 2002, Jeep is retiring the 15-year-old Cherokee platform and replacing it with the all-new Jeep Liberty. The Liberty has a completely new exterior that combines softer lines with traditional Jeep styling cues, such as single round headlights and a vertical slat grille, reminiscent of the Jeep CJ's. The Liberty is available in three trim levels: Sport, Limited, and Renegade and is available in either 2WD or 4WD. A 2.4L four-cylinder is the base engine, with a 3.7L V-6 optional on the Sport models and standard on the Limited and Renegade. Four-wheel drive models come standard with Jeep's Command Trac part-time four-wheel drive. Optional features include a Trailer Tow Group, power sunroof, a Security Group, and premium Infinity speakers.
