Kia introduces the 2001 Optima. The Optima is Kia's five-passenger flagship sedan scheduled for release later in the model year. It will be available in four models: LX, SE, LX V6 and SE V6. Engine choices include either a 2.4L DOHC 149-hp four-cylinder or a 2.5L 170-hp DOHC V6. A five-speed manual transmission is standard with four-cylinder models. V6-equipped models are available with a four-speed automatic transmission featuring Tiptronic technology. This technology allows the driver to manually shift the transmission without the use of a clutch. Standard features on all models include air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and power mirrors. An anti-lock braking system is available on V6 models.
