Intellichoice Review
The Honda Insight utilizes a fuel efficient Integrated Motor Assist System (IMA) that combines a 1.0L, three-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor. Since the electric motor acts as a generator during deceleration and braking to recharge the batteries, the Insight+s battery pack never requires an external power source for recharging. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and a Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT) is available. The Insight delivers an EPA fuel economy rating of 61 mpg city/68 mpg highway with the five speed manual transmission, and 57 city/56 highway with the CVT. Standard features include anti-lock brakes, power windows and mirrors, power door locks with keyless entry, and an anti-theft system.
