Intellichoice Review
Jaguar's flagship XJ Series sedans are available in five models: XJ8, XJ8L (long wheelbase), XJR, Vanden Plas, and Vanden Plas Supercharged. All five models are powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 290 horsepower in its base form. The addition of a supercharger on the XJR and the Vanden Plas Supercharged produces an extra 80 horsepower. All XJ Series sedans are equipped with traction control, dual front and side impact airbags, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. For 2001, a six-disc CD changer has become standard equipment on all XJ Series sedans. Also new for this year, Jaguar's DVD-based Navigation System has become standard equipment on the Vanden Plas Supercharged and remains as an optional upgrade on all other models.
