Overview

The 2001 Vitara is now available with standard AM/FM stereo with CD. In addition, the air conditioning now includes a Micron-air filtration system. The Vitara JS and JLX models are equipped with a two-speed transfer case and a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system that uses a pneumatic actuator to engage the front differential and front axle. Standard equipment includes dual outside mirrors, a rear window defogger, fold-down rear seats, side-window de-misters and a tachometer. The JLS and JLX models upgrade by adding remote keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, and power door locks, mirrors and windows. Aluminum alloy wheels and an automatic transmission are offered as options.
