The 2001 Lexus GS is available in two models: GS 300 and GS 430. New standard amenities for both 2001 GS models include a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, an electronic compass, water-repellant front door glass, and additional interior wood trim. The GS 430 is now equipped with a 4.3L V-8 engine with a torque rating of 325 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm. The new V-8 meets the Federal Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) status. Both GS models now feature a standard front side curtain airbag supplemental restraint system. The GS 300 now features the E-Shift button on the steering wheel spokes. High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights are now standard on the GS 430 and available on the GS 300.
