Hyundai enters the sport utility vehicle market with the 2001 Santa Fe. The Santa Fe is offered in six models: Base, GLS, and LX in either 2WD or 4WD. Features added to the GLS models include cruise control, a remote keyless entry system, power locks, a first aid kit, and power heated mirrors. Leather bucket seats, an automatic day/night rearview mirror and scuff plates are additional standard features on LX models. GLS and LX models come equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, a 2.7L, six-cylinder engine, and a four-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission. There are several option packages available on each model, and features included in these packages include ABS brakes, a limited slip differential, and a traction control system.
