Overview
The Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG last had a manufacturer update on 12/16/2008. With the freshened 2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the company celebrates the vehicle's 30th Anniversary. Originally developed for military use, the G-Class is vailable in two models, the G550 (replacing the previous G500) and G55 AMG. The G-Class features such model year changes as new 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch on the AMG), a new grille and chrome grille guard, and updated COMAND system with large color display. Both trims come standard with a digital harmon kardon Logic7 sound system, traction control and electronic stability control. The G-Class features a full-time four-wheel drive system with three differential locks (front, rear and center), all of which can be independently locked while the vehicle is engaging in off-road use. The Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG was introduced in 2002; no information is currently available on upcoming changes.
