Overview

The Ford Explorer Limited 4.6L 4WD last had a manufacturer update on 01/12/2009. The 2009 Ford Explorer is available in three trims: XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited in 2WD, 4WD, or AWD configurations. New features for this year include the addition of Trailer Sway Control, a XLT Sport Package, and the next-generation navigation system with Sirius Travel Link. Trailer Sway Control works in conjunction with AdvanceTrac with RSC to determine from the yaw motion of the vehicle if the trailer is swaying and take measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to bring both vehicle and trailer under control. The XLT Sport Package contains charcoal black cloth seats, a white instrument cluster, all-weather floor mats and black-accented wheel lops, exterior step bar, and fascia. The Ford Explorer Limited 4.6L 4WD saw minor changes in 2006, and is expected to be redesigned in 2012.
