Overview
The Mercedes-Benz G500 last had a manufacturer update on 04/30/2008. Mercedes-Benz's off-road luxury utility, the G-Class, returns for 2008 with no major changes. The G500 is powered by a 292-hp 5.0L V8 engine, while the G55 AMG is equipped with a 5.5L supercharged V8 engine that boasts 469 horsepower, 516 lb-ft, and a 5.5 second 0-60 time. The G500 is equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission, while the G55 AMG is strapped with a five-speed automatic transmission. Revisions for this year include a redesigned instrument cluster, steering wheel, rear-view camera, and tail lights. The hands-free communication system has also been enhanced. Standard safety features on the G-Class include four-wheel electronic traction control, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), two-stage front airbags, and side curtain airbags. The Mercedes-Benz G500 was introduced in 2002; no information is currently available on upcoming changes.
