Overview

After being completely redesigned last year, the GMC Yukon XL returns for 2008 available in several trims: 1500/2500 SLE and SLT in 2WD or 4WD configuration and 1500 Denali 2WD or 4WD. Engines choices include two versions of the Vortec 5.3L V8 with Active Fuel Management (one is an all aluminum engine while the other is produced with an cast iron block), which produces 320 horsepower and 340 lbs-ft of torque and a 6.0L V8 with VVT and Active Fuel Management. The Active Fuel Management system switches between eight and four cylinders in order to conserve fuel. The Yukon Denali is powered by a 380 hp 6.2-liter V8 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Head curtain airbags are now standard on all models.
