Overview
The Volkswagen GLI 2.0T (Manual) last had a manufacturer update on 04/18/2008. Marketed as a sport version of the Jetta, the GLI continues for 2008 with few changes. Originally introduced back in 1984 with a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine that produced 90hp, the new GLI now comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L which boasts a peak horsepower of 200 at 6000 rpm. The engine is mated with either a standard 6-speed manual or the new DSG 6-speed that makes use of direct shift gear changes. The GLI features a blacked-out honeycomb grille with red pinstripe with auto leveling, high density Xenon headlamps. Sport bucket seats, gauges with silver rings, and aluminum finish round out the interior trim. Also exclusive to the GLI is the thick, F1-style, flat bottom steering wheel for better feel and handling. The Volkswagen GLI 2.0T (Manual) was last redesigned in 2005; no information is currently available on upcoming changes.
