Overview
The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 last had a manufacturer update on 03/17/2008. For 2008, the Mustang adds more standard safety features, new Shelby models and new optional equipment. Side air bags are now standard equipment on all models. The Shelby GT and Shelby GT500KR are two of the newest Shelby models available. The Shelby GT will be available in coupe and convertible bodystyles and powered by a 4.6L V-8 engine modified with Ford Racing Performance parts and generating 319 horsepower. To mark the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang, Ford brings back the Shelby GT500KR. It features an estimated 540 horsepower 5.4L supercharged V-8, 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, short-throw shifter, and unique suspension tuning. The Shelby GT500KR will be available in the spring of 2008. A limited edition Warriors in Pink Mustang will also be available. Sales from the Warriors in Pink edition will help raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was last redesigned in 2005, with minor changes expected again in 2010.
