Overview
Having received an exterior freshening along with powertrain changes designed to give the vehicle an enhanced performance feel last year, the New Beetle returns for 2007 with little change. It is available in two trims--2.5 hatchback and 2.5 convertible. The base engine is a 2.5L inline five-cylinder engine producing 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. A Partial Zero Emissions version is also available in some states at no extra charge. Both engines are mated to either five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic shift control. An optional Package #1 is available and includes heated front seats, premium sound system, heated windshield nozzles, power moonroof (hatchback models only), and semi power soft top with wind deflector (convertible models only). The Volkswagen Beetle 2.5 (Manual) saw minor changes in 2006, and is expected to be redesigned in 2010.
