Overview

The Optima has been revised and brought back as a mid-year model, boasting several key changes as a 2006.5 model. Exterior revisions include sportier details, dual exhaust outlets on the V6, and a new optional Appearance Package, which includes 17-inch wheels, a blacked-out grille and headlights, and interior aluminum trim. The most notable interior change is an increase in interior volume, which is provided by a longer wheelbase and width. Safety has also been enhanced with six standard airbags, active front headrests, a tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-lock brakes. Rounding off the list of changes is a more commanding powertrain, with horsepower and torque increases in both engines, as well as a new five-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic.
