Overview
For 2006, the all-new 5th-generation 3-Series is available in two trims, 325 and 330, and in four bodystyles, sedan, coupe, wagon, and convertible. All models are equipped with BMW's new N52 magnesium/aluminum composite constructed 3.0L in-line six-cylinder engine. The engine on the 325 generates 215 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, while the engine on the 330 employs a three-stage induction system that produces 255 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment on all models and may be upgraded to a six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. With the re-design of the exterior the wheelbase has increased by 1.4 inches, length by 2.2 inches, and width by 3 inches which equates to greater passenger and cargo space on the inside.
