Overview
For 2006, the Dodge Ram 1500 returns with exterior enhancements and a new interior design. The 1500 Regular Cab is available in four model trims: ST, SLT, Laramie, and SRT-10. The ST, SLT, and Laramie are available in 2WD or 4WD configurations while the SRT-10 is only available in 2WD configuration. The optional 5.7L Hemi Magnum engine is now equipped with a Multi-displacement System (MDS) that can transition from eight cylinders to four cylinders in improving fuel economy. All 4WD models offer a new standard electric-shift transfer case that delivers 45 percent of the available torque to the front wheels and 55 percent to the rear wheels. The SRT-10's remain equipped with an 8.3L V10 Viper engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
