Overview

For 2006, the Sierra 2500 returns with minimal changes. Some of the changes include more horsepower and torque on the Duramax 6600 diesel engine, a new Allison six-speed tap shift automatic transmission, and two new exterior colors: Steel Gray and Stealth Gray Metallic. The optional 6.6L Duramax turbocharged V-8 diesel engine has increased in horsepower going from 300 hp to 360 hp with also an increase in torque moving from 520 lb-ft of torque to 650 lb-ft of torque. The Crew Cab is available in eight models: Work Truck, SL, SLE, and SLT trim in either 2WD or 4WD configurations. A 6.0L 300-hp Vortec V-8 engine mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission is available as standard equipment on all Crew Cab models.
