Overview

The Ford Explorer returns for this year with a few upgrades. The Explorer is available in five trims: XLS, XLT, XLT Sport, Eddie Bauer, and Limited. For 2006, the Explorers offer the standard 4.0L V6 engine or the more powerful 4.6L V8 engine matted to a six-speed 6R automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes a Control Trac four-wheel-drive system, tire pressure monitoring, and side impact airbags. Optional equipment includes a Navigation System, 18-inch chrome-clad wheels, and a power moonroof. The moonroof is available on XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited models. New features for 2006 models include a rear seat entertainment system, new tail lamps, and a center console transmission selector.
