Overview
New for 2006, the all-new Volkswagen Passat is available in four trims--Value Edition, 2.0T, 3.6 and 3.6 4MOTION sedans (wagon styles will be added mid-year). Overall, the new Passat is only slightly larger, but with a redesigned and more functional interior, it gains nearly 2.5-inches of rear seat legroom. The new design is marked by a "medallion-shaped" grille with high-tech headlamp treatments. The base engine has been upgraded to a 200-hp turbocharged direct injection engine badged the 2.0T. The revised V6 engine on the 3.6 models achieves 280-hp at 6200 rpm and is paired with a six-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission. No manual is planned. The rear suspension is now an independent multi-link for improved ride and handling.
