Overview

The GTI, Volkswagen's pepped up Golf, enters 2006 equipped with a 180-hp 1.8L turbo engine coupled to either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission. Standard equipment on this sporty hatchback includes 17-inch alloy wheels, the Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), heated bucket seats, a leather steering wheel, and ABS brakes. The optional Luxury Package adds a power sunroof and a Monsoon sound system. Other options offered by Volkswagen include leather seats, a six-disc CD changer, and mud guards. A redesigned fifth-generation GTI, which will features a larger frame and a more powerful 2.0L turbo engine, is now also available.
