Overview

The Rio returns for 2006 completely redesigned. Kia offers the all-new Rio in base and LX sedan trims, as well as a SX hatchback version (badged Rio5). Revisions for this year include a longer wheelbase, increased interior room, and new exterior look. For safety, Kia equips the Rio with six standard airbags, including dual-stage front air bags and full-length side curtain airbags. Other standard equipment includes a 110-hp 1.6L DOHC engine, front-wheel disc brakes, brake assist, full-cloth interior, tachometer, and a rear defroster. The LX trim upgrades by adding air conditioning, power steering with tilt, and wheel covers. The Rio5 hatchback features 15-inch tires and alloy wheels, fog lights, a rear spoiler, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
