Overview

The Mazda MX-5 Miata has been completely redesigned for 2006. The Miata is now available in six trims: Club Spec, Base, Touring, Sport, Grand Touring, and 3rd Generation Limited. The third-generation Miata has increased in length by .8 inches, width by 1.6 inches, and wheelbase by 2.6 inches. The engine and gearbox has been moved back over six inches to give the Miata a 50/50 weight distribution. It is also equipped with a new MZR-generation 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine producing 160 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a new six-speed manual transmission with a six-speed automatic as an option. A new five-link rear suspension replaces the double wishbone of the previous generation and improves handling.
