Overview

For 2006 the Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in seven models--Laredo, Limited and Overland in 2WD and 4WD, and SRT-8 4WD. Redesigned in 2005, Jeep has added the top-of-the-line Overland trim for this year. Additional changes include a standard electronic stability program with roll mitigation and one-touch up/down front door windows. The SRT8 is the most powerful Jeep ever built and features the 6.1L HEMI V8 that produces 420hp/420 lb.-ft. of torque, and reaches 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds. The SRT8 is the first 4WD and Jeep branded Street Racing Technology vehicle. It features a unique, specially designed transfer case necessary to handle the power of the larger engine, while being 60lbs. lighter than the normal Jeep heavy-duty case.
