Overview
The GTI returns for 2005 with no changes. The GTI is available in two models: base and VR6. The base model is powered by a 1.8L turbo charged four-cylinder engine producing 180 hp and 173 lbs/ft of torque. The VR6's 2.8L V6 generates 200 hp and 195 lbs/ft of torque. Transmission choices on the base model include a five-speed manual or automatic transmission, while the VR6 is available only with a six-speed manual transmission. Optional features available on all models include an OnStar Telematics Communication System, a Leather Package, and a Luxury Package. Available only on the VR6 model, the extra-cost Technology Package offers automatic climate control, an auto day/night rearview mirror, and speed-sensitive rain-sensing wipers.
