Overview
The Beetle convertible returns for 2004 with several revisions. Technical changes include an improved emissions system, a new engine cover design, standard dual head/thorax airbags, and dual stage deployment in the front airbags. Each trim offers redesigned wheels for this year, and the GLS 1.8T has new optional 17-inch alloy wheels. Electronic stability traction control is also available optionally. The GL trim no longer offers the Cold Weather Package, now only optional on GLS models. Other options include HID Xenon headlights, a ski sack, and an wind deflector. Starting in mid-December, the standard radio on all models will be a Premium 5.5 in dash CD player with MP3 capability. Paint is not updated to 2004 specifications.
