Overview
For 2004, GMC introduces the Canyon line of trucks as replacement for the Sonoma platform. Extended Cab versions are available in four models: SL or SLE trim, in either 2WD or 4WD configuration. Newly designed from the chassis up, the Canyon receives new engine choices, as well. The base engine is a 2.8L 175 hp in-line four cylinder, with a 220 hp 3.5L in-line five cylinder available as an upgrade. Both engines are available with either a manual or an automatic transmission. The Z71 Off-Road Package is available on all models and includes off-road suspension, limited slip rear differential, front fog lights, 15 inch aluminum wheels, 265/75R15 on-off road tires, tow hooks, and mud guards. A Power Convenience Group is also available on the SLE.
