Overview
Jeep introduces the Rubicon model to the Wrangler line-up for 2003. This off-road model features Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, 31-inch tall tires, 16-inch aluminum Moab wheels, a heavy-duty transfer case, and four-wheel disc brakes. Also standard on the Rubicon is Tru-Lok, an electronically controlled locking differential with push-button operation that allows either both axles to be locked or only the rear one. Other additions for 2003 include a new 2.4L DOHC engine (SE model only), an optional four-speed automatic transmission, and new front and rear seats. The sound systems have been redesigned and now have flush-mounted radios as well as rear speaker pods, which replace the sound bar. An automatic day/night mirror is also newly available.
