Overview
The 2003 Savana Cargo Van now features a newly available V8 powertrain; Vortec 4800, 5300 and 6000. The Vortec 4800 generates 50 more horsepower than the Vortec 5000 it replaces. The 4.8-liter is primarily used for heavy-duty service applications, such as 2500 regular and extended-wheelbase (8,600 GVWR). The 6.0-liter produces 300 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 360 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, and is the standard engine for G3500 regular and extended cargo van. The Savana Cargo Van equipped with a Vortec 6000 can be fully converted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). A new standard four-wheel disc ABS brake system is now standard equipment. Retained accessory power is a new standard feature. The OnStar Communication System is now available.
