Overview
The Elantra sedan features new styling for this model year. The Elantra is manufactured and imported from Ulsan, Korea. New for this year are the 2.0L 140-hp engine and the standard air conditioning compared to last year's 1.8L 130-hp engine with air-conditioning as an option. The top of the line Elantra is the GLS sedan which has several choices of packages to upgrade its appearance. With the exception of the GLS Wagon, the GL (sedan or wagon) and GLS sedan are available with the automatic transmission as an option. The GL offers only two option packages. More options include the sports rack (sedan), roof rack cross rails (wagon), security system with driver+s door keyless entry and mud guards. The GLS models were discontinued on April 12, 1999.
