Overview
The 1999 Safari cargo van is available in either two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. New for 1999, the previous all-wheel-drive system has been replaced with a new state-of-the art system with an active transfer case which will allow the Safari to normally operate in two-wheel-drive until it senses slipping and will immediately tranfer torque to the front wheels. The Safari is equipped with the Vortec 4300 V6 SFI engine which produces 190-hp and 250-lb/ft of torque to handle your cargo and a trailler up to 5,500 pounds. Optional equipment includes an upgraded stereo with cassette and CD player, power windows and locks, tinted glass and a remote keyless entry system.
