Overview
For 1999, the Escort is available in five models - ZX2 (Cool) and ZX2 (Hot) coupes, and LX Sedan, SE Sedan and SE Wagon. Option Packages are only available for three models, ZX2 Hot, SE Sedan and SE Wagon. These packages include the Comfort Group, Sport Group (tilt steering wheel, cruise control and dual map lights) and the Power Group (power locks and power windows). Additional changes include the standard driver side visor mirror and the AM/FM cassette is now standard on ZX2 (Hot) and on SE. The Appearance Group is no longer available. All-door remote entry with anti-theft alarm is now standard on SE and ZX2 (Hot) only, and optional for LX and ZX2 (Cool).
