Overview
The 1996 Pathfinder is available in five models-XE and LE 2WD; XE, SE and LE 4WD. A new 3.3 V6 engine produces 168 hp, up from last year+s 153 hp. All new for 1996, the Pathfinder replaces its' body-on frame construction with a MonoFrame body construction, for a more car-like ride. In comparison with last years model, the Pathfinder was designed to be larger, comfier and has a more sophisticated, aerodynamic look. A new fuel-injection system has increased power, better fuel economy and reduced emissions. Luxury features include leather appointed seating and simulated wood trim, retractable cargo area cover and a stereo system with an integrated compact disc player and six speakers. Also, new for 1996 is a heavy duty strut-type suspension.
