Overview
The 1996 Protege is available in three models - DX, LX and ES sedans. Basically unchanged for 1996, the Protege is equipped with safety features such as driver and passenger-side air bags, child safety locks, rear defroster, halogen headlights and side-impact door beams. The LX upgrades the DX with cruise control, remote trunk release and power mirrors, windows and door locks. The ES includes CFC-free air conditioning, four-wheel disc brakes and velour sport bucket seats. Floor mats and automatic transmission are optional on all models. Available dealer installed accessories include car cover, keyless remote entry system, rear mounted bicycle rack, rear spoiler, front and rear mud guards and compact disc player or changer.
