Overview
The 1996 Elantra is available in four models - (Base) Elantra and GLS; sedan and wagon. For 1996, the Elantra has been redesigned. A new Beta engine provides 13% more power than last year+s engine and features distributorless ignition for reduced maintenance costs. New suspension geometry reduces front-end dive and rear lift during braking. Increased dimensions for the Elantra provide sedans with more hip room, leg room, shoulder room and passenger volume than the Neon, Escort, Corolla and Civic sedans. Elantra wagons feature more hip room, leg room and interior volume than Saturn, Escort, Corolla and Impreza wagons. Additional improvements include increased insulation and chassis enhancements for reduced noise, vibration and harshness.
