Overview
The 1998 Mazda Protege is available in three trim levels: DX, LX, and ES. The new Protege models are available in eight exterior colors. These include Sandalwood Metallic, Sunset Red Mica, Sparkle Green Mica and Silver Stone Metallic (new for 1998). The interior comes in Beige or Gray. All Proteges come equipped with dual front driver and passenger airbags, as well as side-impact door beams. Protege+s handling is aided by the patented Twin Trapezoidal Link rear suspension. Other standard equipment includes power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, reclining front bucket seats with adjustable head restraints and deep cup holders. Dealer Options include a cassette player, a rear spoiler, a CD changer and a removable bike rack.
