Overview
The 1998 Sunfire is available in four models- SE Coupe, SE Sedan, GT Coupe and SE Convertible. The rear decklid spoiler is now standard on all coupes and optional on the sedan with a center high mounted stop light included. Depowered dual airbags, transmission improvements to the 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic, and improvements to the standard 2.2L four cylinder engine are the major changes for 1998. The four speed automatic transmission includes Pontiac's Enhanced Traction System, a form of traction control. Also new for '98, is the addition of Topaz Gold to the list of exterior color choices. A new Taupe color roof is available on the convertible model. A rear window defogger and air conditioning are now standard on the GT coupe.
